About the Italian Studies collection

Green Library’s Italian collections offer print, digital, and media resources in Italian, English, and other languages, with a central focus on the language, literature, history, and politics of Italy. Italophone communities outside of the Italian peninsula, including the large Italian diaspora community, are also documented. Strengths are medieval and Renaissance literature, history, and culture, including large holdings on Dante and Petrarch; eighteenth-century Italian intellectual and scientific culture; and Italian literature and politics the twentieth and twenty-first century. The Libraries’ Special Collections contain unique and rare Italian books, periodicals, and ephemera from the medieval to contemporary times, with rich holdings on Dante, early modern Italian academies and scientific culture, Italian women in science and intellectual life, and Fascism and the Second World War.
